There are countless benefits when we eat cherries. They are low on calories while being a valuable source of nutrients, vitamins and minerals that our bodies needs in order to function normally.

Advanced studies on the importance of nutritional consumption of cherries reveal that on the long term, these fruits have anticancer effects due to high contents of antioxidants that counteract free radicals, protecting body cells from their harmful action.

The anthocyanins pigment that gives the fruit its red color is known for its effects to reduce inflammation and pain, regulate blood cholesterol and triglycerides, and reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes. It may also have marvelous effects on the brain and prevent the occurrence of neurodegenerative disorders such as dementia or Alzheimer.

Cherries contain antioxidants, minerals, ellagic acid, vitamin C, vitamin A, bioflavonoids, melatonin and anthocyanes.

Melatonin is a great antioxidant for calming the nervous system and is useful in case of insomnia, neurosis, anxiety and migraines. So, if you can’t fall asleep quickly enough, eat some cherries. In addition, minerals such as potassium, iron, copper, zinc and manganese help maintain a normal heart rhythm.

Studies have shown that cherries consumed after workouts can help the muscles recuperate faster. Vitamin A contained in cherries is great for the skin because it contains more beta-carotene, a nutrient necessary for a strong immune system and glowing skin. Cherries contain up to 20 times more beta-carotene than strawberries or blueberries.

They contain over 75% water, which makes them ideal in diets because they have fewer calories (63 calories per 100 grams), prevent dehydration, give the feeling of satiety and lower the level LDL cholesterol. 

100 grams of cherries have an energy value of 48 kcal. Cherry juice helps to eliminate toxins from the body and the high potassium content acts as an excellent diuretic. Eating cherries is not only suitable for those who want to lose weight, but also for medical purposes, for people who suffer from liver disease, those with low levels of minerals, who suffer from fatigue and anemia. The positive effects of eating cherries have also been observed in children who suffer from growth deficit.

Cherry tails

Cherry tails have a  positive effects especially in the treatment of urinary infections. The tea is prepared by boiling 30g of cherry tails in a liter of water, strain and drink three cups a day.

Another remedy used as a flu treatment is to macerate 50g of cherry tails in a liter of water for 12 hours. The mixture is then boiled for ten minutes and then left to infuse for another ten minutes. You strain the mixture and drink the resulting liquid in four equal shares throughout the day.
